Outbound vs Zoho CRM

Zoho is a deep, affordable, deeply customizable CRM — and its telephony is genuinely vendor-neutral. The one thing worth understanding before you buy: the dialing is a stack you assemble, not a dialer that ships built in. Every claim below traces to Zoho's own pricing and PhoneBridge pages.

The one thing to know

Zoho's calling is real. Whether it's a power dialer is the question.

Zoho CRM's paid editions run $14 (Standard) / $23 (Professional) / $40 (Enterprise) / $52 (Ultimate) per user per month billed annually ($20 / $35 / $50 / $65 billed monthly), plus a free edition for up to 3 users. "Built-in calling" is included from Standard up — but that means click-to-call and call logging, not a power dialer. A real outbound-calling motion, and anything like parallel dialing, answering-machine detection or voicemail drop, runs through PhoneBridge, Zoho's telephony marketplace — which means bringing and paying for a separate provider (RingCentral, GoTo, JustCall, Amazon Connect and others) on top of your Zoho seat. So the calling line item is three things stacked: the CRM seat, the third-party dialer, and its minutes.

Where we're behind, plainly: Zoho is the deeper CRM. Custom modules, Blueprint automation, forecasting, and the wider Zoho One app suite go well past what Outbound does, and the free edition (3 users) plus a $14/seat Standard tier make it an inexpensive, mature system of record. Its telephony is also genuinely vendor-neutral — if you already run RingCentral, GoTo or Amazon Connect, PhoneBridge lets you keep that carrier instead of switching. If a customizable system-of-record with your existing phone stack is the goal, Zoho earns the seat. Outbound's case is narrower and specific: the outbound-calling engine itself.

Questions we'd ask if we were you

Does Zoho CRM have a built-in power dialer?
Zoho CRM includes built-in calling from the Standard edition up — click-to-call and call logging inside the CRM. A power-dialer motion, and features like parallel dialing, answering-machine detection or voicemail drop, isn't native; it runs through Zoho PhoneBridge by connecting a third-party telephony provider you supply.
What is Zoho PhoneBridge and does it cost extra?
PhoneBridge is Zoho's telephony integration marketplace, not a dialer of its own. It connects cloud-PBX and contact-center providers — RingCentral, GoTo, Amazon Connect, JustCall, Ringover, Exotel and others — to Zoho CRM. You bring your own provider account, so the calling capability and its minutes are billed by that provider, on top of your Zoho seat.
How much does Zoho CRM cost?
Zoho CRM has a free edition for up to 3 users, then four paid editions billed per user per month: Standard $14, Professional $23, Enterprise $40 and Ultimate $52 with annual billing ($20 / $35 / $50 / $65 billed monthly). Telephony is separate — either built-in calling credits or a PhoneBridge provider you supply.
When does Zoho make more sense than Outbound?
If you want a deeply customizable system of record — custom modules, forecasting, Blueprint automation and the broader Zoho One app suite — or you already run RingCentral, GoTo or Amazon Connect and want to keep that carrier through PhoneBridge, Zoho is the more complete CRM. Outbound is the better fit when the priority is an outbound-calling engine that's built in and free to start.
